McMatthy Completes Base Works for Solar Street Lighting Projects in Koluama 1 and Tamazo

McMatthy Nigeria Limited has successfully completed the foundation and base works for the emergency solar-powered street lighting projects in Koluama 1 and Tamazo communities, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Bayelsa State. The milestone follows the successful delivery and inspection of project materials for the projects awarded by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), marking significant progress toward full installation.

The completed reinforced concrete foundations will support the galvanized steel poles and All-in-One solar LED street lights. With the base works now concluded, the project has progressed to the next phase—erection of the poles and installation of the solar lighting units.

Upon completion, the projects are expected to enhance nighttime visibility and public safety while supporting mobility, community activities and local economic activities after dark. The use of solar-powered lighting also provides a sustainable and energy-efficient solution that operates independently of conventional grid electricity.

McMatthy Nigeria Limited remains committed to executing the projects safely, efficiently and in accordance with NDDC specifications, approved quality standards and professional best practices. As work continues, Koluama 1 and Tamazo communities move closer to having functional, reliable and sustainable street lighting systems that will contribute to improved safety, visibility and overall community development.
